Conakry, September 14, 2026 – Nimba Mining Company S.A. (“NMC”), a wholly state-owned enterprise, and Glencore announce the conclusion of an offtake agreement covering the pre-financing and marketing of NMC’s bauxite production.

Signed in Paris on September 7, 2026, following an international tender process, the agreement provides for pre-financing of over $300 million and the marketing of 10 to 12 million tonnes of bauxite annually for five years.

Over the term of the contract, the committed volume represents between 50 and 60 million tonnes of bauxite, equivalent to an average of approximately 830,000 to 1 million tonnes per month. For NMC, this arrangement ensures visibility regarding sales volumes and cash flows over a five-year period, linking the ramp-up of production to identified market outlets.

Supporting Guinea’s Industrial Development

In parallel, Guinea’s industrial strategy aims to increase local processing. Three alumina refineries are currently under construction. Their commissioning is intended to enable the conversion of an increasing share of the ore into alumina, paving the way for future domestic aluminum production.

This approach distinguishes between two timeframes: securing bauxite sales immediately while progressively generating greater value-added activity within the country.

A Strategic Partnership for Guinea

According to Djiba Diakité, Chairman of the Simandou Strategic Committee, the agreement represents a significant milestone in Guinea’s mining strategy and aligns with the Simandou 2040 Sustainable and Responsible Socio-Economic Development Program.

Bouna SYLLA, Minister of Mines and Geology, stated that the agreement reflects confidence in Guinea and marks the beginning of long-term cooperation with Glencore, bringing international expertise to the development of the country’s mining sector.

Nimba Mining Company’s Operations

NMC operates the Tinguilinta mine and the Kamsar port facilities as part of an integrated mine-rail-port supply chain. When presenting its results for the first half of 2026, after ten months of operations, the company had exported over 4 million tonnes of bauxite.

The company employed 381 people, 98% of whom were Guinean, in addition to 1,928 permanent staff engaged by subcontractors across mining, rail, port, logistics, and technical operations.
